San Francisco, CA / Fort Lauderdale, FL – January 21, 2016 – iCare, the enterprise cloud EHR company, announced today that Konur Unyelioglu, a Senior Engineer with the company, wrote a forward thinking article on the Prediction of Cancer using Machine Learning that was published by InfoQ, a software focused online forum dedicated to the spread of knowledge and innovation in professional software development. The article, entitled Health Informatics and Survival Prediction of Cancer with Apache Spark Machine Learning Library discusses, in great detail, how to use technology and statistics from The Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) Program of the National Cancer Institute can predict cancer survival months from a set of clinically important input variables. The article does not aim to obtain scientifically acceptable results. Rather, the article is a tutorial for the Spark MLlib library, in particular multi-class classification problem and performance metrics API, utilizing real health informatics data.
iCare congratulates Konur and encourages it’s employees to become brand ambassadors and forward thinking technology advocates and leaders in the healthcare industry.
